ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Ellen. Thank you for stopping by.
I found yoga in college, though it would be years before it found me back. It wasn't until the late '90s that a consistent practice took hold, one that asked more of me the longer I stayed with it. By the end of 2003, I'd made the leap toward teaching. I still remember walking into that first training session and feeling something settle in me, an unmistakable sense of belonging. I didn't need convincing. I just knew.
What hooked me early, and what still does, is the part of yoga that lives underneath the physical. The subtle energetics, the philosophy, the questions a pose can quietly ask you if you're paying attention. You'll find all of that woven through my classes, alongside plenty of stillness and plenty of movement, because both have something to teach.
I care a lot about clarity when I cue, and I'll use every prop in the room if it means a student finally feels what a posture is asking of their body. Understanding your anatomy, your variations, your particular way of moving through a shape, that's where the real transformation tends to hide. And somewhere in all of that seriousness, there's usually room for a laugh too.
The Yoga I Teach
ALIGNED FLOW:
ALIGNED FLOW
A moving practice built on breath and alignment. Each week we build toward a specific posture or family of postures, re-training the body to find the actions that get you there. Expect to move, sweat a little, and leave with a clearer sense of how your body works.
YIN YOGA:
YIN YOGA
Long, slow holds that unwind tension at its source. Yin works the connective tissue, not the muscles, giving you rare stillness to dive within.
YIN AND YANG:
YIN AND YANG (STILLNESS & FLOW)
Can't decide between stillness and movement? This class blends the deep stillness of Yin with the flowing energy of Yang; some weeks we start low and build up, other weeks we flip it. The best of both worlds, in 75 minutes.
RESTORATIVE YOGA:
RESTORATIVE YOGA
This class is the Friday of the yoga world, the one you wait for all week. Supported by props and held in stillness, you'll relax completely and let the practice do the work. Enjoy the ride.
BACK TO BASICS: Alignment Focus
BACK TO BASICS
