ABOUT
Hi, I’m Ellen. Thank you for stopping by.
I found yoga in college, though it would be years before it found me back. It wasn't until the late '90s that a consistent practice took hold, one that asked more of me the longer I stayed with it. By the end of 2003, I'd made the leap toward teaching. I still remember walking into that first training session and feeling something settle in me, an unmistakable sense of belonging. I didn't need convincing. I just knew.
What hooked me early, and what still does, is the part of yoga that lives underneath the physical. The subtle energetics, the philosophy, the questions a pose can quietly ask you if you're paying attention. You'll find all of that woven through my classes, alongside plenty of stillness and plenty of movement, because both have something to teach.
I care a lot about clarity when I cue, and I'll use every prop in the room if it means a student finally feels what a posture is asking of their body. Understanding your anatomy, your variations, your particular way of moving through a shape, that's where the real transformation tends to hide. And somewhere in all of that seriousness, there's usually room for a laugh too.
IF YOU ARE ANYTHING LIKE ME, YOU ENJOY A BIT OF VARIETY IN YOUR PRACTICE.
The classes meet you where you are, facilitate personal exploration and offer time to be curious with yourself. I frequently use props to enhance an action or support your yoga experience, and I encourage developing inner awareness as a guide during yoga sessions.
ALIGNED FLOW:
An interactive mix of fluid movement, active alignment and attention to the breath. Each week our sequence revolves around re-educating the body to maintain the actions needed to dive into a specific posture or group of postures.
