Restorative Yoga Teacher Training
ART OF REST: The Language of Ease

Dates: December 6th and 13th 2025
Time: 12:00–5:00 PM

Weekend 1 & 2
Art of Rest: The Language of Ease

This training introduces teachers to the foundations of Restorative Yoga, the nervous system, and the therapeutic role of deep rest. Participants will learn how to set up fully supported postures, understand the physiology behind relaxation, and apply the principle of Sthira Sukham Āsanam—steady and easeful practice—in a teaching context.

In addition to classic restorative shapes, we’ll explore an Iyengar-influenced approach that includes more active restorative options such as Downward Dog with head support, simple inversions, and prop-assisted alignment techniques. The workshop blends lecture, guided practice, and clear sequencing skills that teachers can immediately integrate into their classes and current trainings.

Pre-Requisite: 200-hr YTT

Homework and Self-Study (about 1 hour)
📍 Location: Inlet Yoga Studio
💲 Investment: $350

What is Yin Yoga?

“Everything that appears in the physical realm is always connected with energy flow at the invisible level.” - Nan Lu

Approach to Yin Yoga in a Nutshell

·      Center; become aware of the pace of your breath and Settle

·      Settle into the shape of the pose; stop at the first point of resistance.

·      Keep muscles relaxed to access the deeper Yin tissues for 3-5 minutes.

·      Less movement. The slow stillness of practice stimulates and stretches the connective tissues and joints over time.

Yin/Yang Relationship

The qualities of Yin by Nature are more hidden, cool beneath the surface, and therefore the areas affected are less accessible than Yang muscle tissues. Yin tissues respond to long-held stillness, and Yang tissues need movement.

Subtle Energy - Meridians
Yin, or Taoist Yoga, consists of relatively passive, long-held, mostly seated poses during which a student attempts to stay relaxed while gently tugging or pressuring the connective tissues. The ligaments and tendons of the body are made of denser or more rigid material than the muscles and therefore require a different approach to function optimally.

In TCM theory, the fascia houses Meridian channels, conduits for subtle energy to move through the body. TCM looks at our organs as responsible for bodily functions and emotional responses, and each of the 12 organs is paired together, one Yin and one Yang. These pairs then correspond to one of the Five Elements.

The organs lie deeper in the body and loosely connect to the surface through the meridian system allowing the transport of energy (Qi) to disperse through the body. Acupuncture needles would not be able to reach the organs and instead are placed close to the surface to stimulate the flow of Qi through the meridian channels.

During a typical yin yoga class, students experience physical sensations and the practice's mental and emotional qualities. Yin practice is a perfect balance to our Yang lifestyle. Through practice, we receive the gifts of awareness, clarity, and gentleness while increasing our range of motion. Consistently done, we gain new insights for self-care and living with more presence.
